Alpha Pussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs, Gina Gershon…Book Review

Spread the love

If you were to ask yourself, who is the most Alpha Pussy in the land, you can only come up with one name…Gina Gershon. Actress, writer, producer, songwriter, musician, Ms. Gershon is the leptome of one bad ass babe. But her status was hard-won, as she makes plain in her wonderful new book Alpha Pussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs.

One really ‘feels’ the times in Southern California where Gina Gershon matured, played scamp as much as leading her group of friends a time or two. Jumping around with the story, pretty much how I love an autobiography to read, she doesn’t spend a lot of time on real specifics of the nuts-and-bolts of Hollyweird, but she does give good insight into the aforementioned off-Broadway scene, her acting study and early jobs, tickles us across some of her Hollywood adventures (knocking Bob Dylan to the canvas, saying no to Prince), but always stays grounded in the self-discovery purpose of this book.

And as she makes plainly clear, she also gives us lots on the infamous Showgirls, claiming it was on this infamous film where she had to truly assert her AP-ness.

What I especially like about these near-300 pages, is that while Gershon reveals some deep truths about herself, and plenty about the wacky business she navigates, this autobiography of a sure Hollywood star doesn’t dish nor doe she become mired in her self-discovery/journey. Things here are relatable, as Gershon comes across as much an Alpha Pussy as one down-to-Earth chick. You get to know her across these pages, hear her voice loud and clear and if you weren’t a Gine Gershon fan before (and I can’t see how anybody could not be a Gina Gershon fan) you definitely will be after reading Alpha Pussy: How I Survived the Valley and Learned to Love My Boobs.
