Sometimes these broadsides are not about NJ and are not snarky. This time around I wanted to put some attention on Stephanie Nagy, owner of a record store in PA, called Spin Me Round Records. Stephanie and the store earned a much-deserved article in the most recent issue of Paper Magazine (see here).
I have frequented Stephanie’s store in the Palmer Mall, Easton PA quite often and enjoy her video social media updates where she lets us all know about new releases, rereleases, and pretty much everything else that comes into her store. A while ago she was nice enough to answer an email query I sent to her (we’ve met a handful of times, but she doesn’t really know me, seeing as Stephanie has lots of people come in and out of her expansive store and she meets/deals with tons of buyers) to participate in this blog I wrote.
She really is a champion for vinyl music, local artists, books, Funkos…pretty much, all the great stuff of life.
“Artists get the opportunity to do what they love, right? And I love hearing their music and I love promoting their music, and I love trying to make them even bigger,” Stephanie told PAPER. “We are all doing exactly what we love. And you know what? The world just needs more love.”
I agree with that love sentiment, as much as how great it is that this enthusiastic lasy keeps this big store running. What I didn’t know, but seeing how there are a ton of books in Spin Me Round, as well, reading that Stephanie looks at her retail space as “We were a bookstore that just happened to have records,” I’m not surprised.
Anyway, this is just a ‘shout out’ as the kids say (or maybe they don’t say that anymore) to Stephanie Nagy, Paper Magazine recognizing her and the wonderful Spin Me Round Records, close enough to Jersey that you should get your music/book-loving butt over there now!
