Last night I got a score of cell phone pics from my gal, who lives an hour from my maternal home in Clifton—although she is still in NJ—of an amazing array of Aurora Borealis. The light pollution in my burb is such that I couldn’t see the colors, but what she witnessed and snapped (see here) nearly matched the Aurora’s B’s she saw on a trip to Alaska last year.
(See here for a more scientific explanation).
So here we are with another reason not to ever leave this wonderful state.
From having the best rock stars to thwart your suicide attempt, to fantastic tomatoes and sweet corn, to our take no crapola ‘tude, to now the Northern Lights, we have it all. If you’re not from here and have never experienced an NJ autumn, I could never describe how amazing the end of September, October Halloween, and the run-up to Thanksgiving is for us here. The diners, which I have already expounded upon, the Giants and Jets playing in the same stadium, and Snookie…really NJ, was so great already!
PA has had an assassination attempt. The south-eastern part of the US has hurricanes, floods, and no real good pizza from Virginia on down. The middle of the country is a dust bowl. AZ and NV are way too hot for humans; the north is way too cold. And California, earthquakes (yes, we get them too, but really, how often?) and homelessness.
Ok, I’m over-simplifying and trying to be a little silly here. I’m just happy we got a little A.B. spillover so folks in this area who have to usually travel can catch such an amazing night color light display. Really, who needs Alaska, Iceland or Norway? We got NJ bi***hes, great as it has always been, enjoying some nighttime color now.
(Jeez, I just hope we don’t suddenly get an influx of vacationers!)
