Perhaps you don’t know Lipbone Redding, but you should. He’s a one-man band who carries an entire orchestra in his mouth! Lawrence “Lipbone” Redding has humble roots in North Carolina and after several years in New York City, he began busking in Manhattan subways and parks. He used these very public places to work on his original material, turning his life story into song. Though his unique music, fluid guitar playing and astounding vocalizations, Lipbone has a style that adheres to no style at all. Musical, upbeat and imaginative, sometimes soft and soulful, his stories are peppered with vocal trombones, saxophones, throat-singing birds, fantastic animals and a host of poignant characters.
Lipbone engages the audience as if they are additional band members, and invites them to employ their voices, claps and dance moves for the greater good.
When not on the road making music and friends, Lipbone is artist-in-residence at Oak Grove Retreat in Tarboro, North Carolina.
In support of Lipbone Redding, North Jersey resident Loretta Hagen will open with a set of her,” heart-driven, soul-filling” Folk Americana. She is an award-winning recording artist with four critically acclaimed CD releases to her credit. Loretta’s rich alto voice and strong songwriting skills have led her to win many awards including a JAM Awards’ (Jersey Acoustic Music Awards) for Top Female Artist of the Year.
Founded in 2013, Ethical Brew is an acoustic music series whose mission is to combine cutting-edge musical talent with social action.
Proceeds from this show will be shared with the Teaneck Food Pantry (teaneckpantry.com). Shows take place at the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County located at 687 Larch Avenue in Teaneck, New Jersey. Concert at 8pm. Doors open 7:30. All tickets $25. Advance purchase highly recommended.
