If anybody ever debates with you that New Jersey isn’t glamorous, you can now tell them where to go…literally.
According to LawnStarter (don’t ask me, I never heard of them either) in their ranking of “2023’s Most Glamorous Cities,” three of our state’s cities made the list. Comparing the 200 biggest U.S. cities across six categories broken down into 39 “glam factors,” the metrics for calculation included such stats as the share of million-dollar homes, an access to Michelin-starred restaurants, and the number of exclusive yacht clubs.
Drum roll please…
Newark, Jersey City and Paterson were named.
Now ‘glamorous’ could surely be considered a subjective term. ‘Historic,’ large, densely populated, yes, I could label Newark, Jersey City and Paterson with these adjectives. And though I know you won’t find all that many yacht clubs in these three cities (if any at all) I will give you the possibility of locating some nearby or even in-town Michelin-starred eating establishments (and if not Michelin-starred, at least fantastic places to eat…and I have eaten in plenty across these three cities). And with what happened over the past few decades in the rebuilding of some parts of Jersey City, I’d say you could find some pricey spots to live as well.
And have you ever been the Forest Hill, section of Newark? There are some spectacular homes there.
We all know, these kind of lists aren’t really worth a whole hell of a lot against preset public opinion or when stories of high crime come out of these cities (certainly Newark and Paterson) on a regular basis. But it’s nice to know somebody noticed some of the glamour that we do have in the Garden State. Off the top of my head I would have mentioned some other cities, but the hell do I know?
I don’t own a yacht.
