I know that Ralph is our main writer on our wonderful FU site (yes this is how we refer to it when we are discussing stories and ideas), but I actually have something to write…finally! As Ralph has mentioned a few times, I was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and then 20 years ago, my husband and I decided to take our show on the road and why just travel and go on vacations, NO, let’s move our entire home across the country to an entirely different state where we know no one! We did this not once, not twice, but thrice! But as you know, if you can make it in Jersey, any other state is an easy place to find whatever you are looking for.
So I was educated in NJ, got a few college degrees from Willy P, started a private tutoring service in my late teens to help educate K-8 students, many with some form of learning disability. Oh yea, I’m dyslexic and have auditory processing so yea, found that out in college (thank you BCC!). Anyhoo, so after I got my MAT, I was asked to teach some college classes. It was something I never considered, teaching at the college level but after my first class, I said to my husband, “I’m never leaving this!”
Throughout all our moving and travels, I taught in traditional and online college classrooms. I learned to build curriculum in all types of LMS’s and how to engage with students online. It wasn’t too different as I was running my content marketing agency virtually back when we didn’t have many tools like we do today so it was all based on clear communication.
Reality Kicked In
Sometimes we need something to remind us where we started and came from to where we are today. I had that realization this week when an editor posed questions about online colleges and the anwers flowed out of me. I was like, “Shit, I really have a lot of experience in education!”. We forget when the daily grind of marketing takes over. But I still do teach college online for two of the top state universities because I really do love teaching and helping students succeed.

For anyone who thought Ralph’s mentioning of me was like a fake person in his imaginary mind, no I’m real! I am behind the scenes fixing and making sure FU runs properly while leading SEO and content marketing at my day job and teaching the next generation of SEOs.
