Yes, NJ is opening up so big and wide once again. And not in a “Welcome to the great Garden State,” call to tourists. No, we saw a repeat of whatever is under our roads trying to sneak up and out; along a hundred yards or so on Smith Road in Woodbridge, a large crack appeared last week. Eighteen families were evacuated on this stretch of Route 440 because of this occurrence, that no one can rightly put a cause to. In what is becoming too common news across my home and favorite state’s roadways, repairs to this suddenly-appearing road slice could take months with traffic being diverted. It’s a scene all too reminiscent (albeit on a smaller scale) of what happened in Wharton a few months ago with Rte. 80 closures.
I’m not sure the people ‘up’ there off Rte.15 have rightly recovered from that big sink hole bruhaha in Wharton. The sudden road openings ‘up’ there were caused (or at least this is the party line) from the fact that Rte. 8o in that area (at it seems in plenty of other areas) is said to be built over old New Jersey mines. As I say, in the case of Smith Road, speculation is swirling over the cause of the fissure, some saying it could be due to work happening nearby to build a new plant.
Of course, you know what I think, as I explained here already…it’s a damn hellmouth! This was the cause of the Rte.80 road cave-in as well as what just happened down in Woodbridge, I just know it. The county/state can cover this up all they want and with this new Smith Rd. case I’m sure they will come up with some plausible-sounding explanation. But those of us well versed in science fiction/fantasy and horror (normal people in my experience) know better. We know magic, multi-dimensions, aliens walking among us here on Earth infiltrating the brains of our politicians, theologians and rock stars (really, did you think a Taylor Swift or a Coldplay could get that super popular without some sort of supernatural intervention or at least aliens whittling down our sensibilities over the decades?) Why then should the idea that New Jersey, out of all the states in the nation, is built over a hellmouth (an entrance to hell) be so hard to swallow?
As anyone who has lived in New Jersey for years, even those not supernaturally inclined, we know the truth and now we see Woodbridge is just another spot in our state giving up its secrets.
