NJ DMV, A JOY TO BEHOLD

Spread the love

Look at me, not only making an appointment on the computer, for a scant hour and half before I had to arrive, and then, saints be praised, actually driving down to the DMV, being attended to well before my appointment time, then turning out the place, making a U-turned to come back up on the inspection station (which one can’t access once one is in the DMV lot at this particular NJ spot) being taken into a bay in no time and my old jalopy actually passing inspection (I am a year away from the 1995 cut off).

Wow, what did I step in today!

I haven’t been inside a DMV in a while and the one I used to go to in Wayne, was a huge and always so super crazy busy. You know how this used to be, and might still be for many, the DMV is where hopes (and certainly a good chunk of your day) went to die. But in the case of the DMV I visited today, updates in technology are seeming to serve well. And with me damning technology most of my day out and about—how it is leaving us ever higher and dryer, killing sociability, etc.—it was just nice to see something working right for a change.

Not to mention how pleasant every DMV worker I came in contact with, was. Maybe they too are feeling the benefits in whatever technological changes have been implemented that seem to be working to make the day smoother. Maybe I’m just on a high cause my old Buick Skylar Custom passed inspection. But really, the big screens in the DMV flashing a driver’s picture, the clear announcements, the way in which it seemed the DMV has its areas specially delineated with semi-comfortable chairs, eliminating that old drudgery of endless line waiting, I’d dare say ‘somebody somewhere done learn somethin’ and things be workin’ all speedy like and pleasant down at the car document place dees daze.’

My hat’s off…as I drive my car without a care in the world.
